Girls Varsity Basketball vs. Vicksburg High School

Falcons Win: 35.00 - 27.00

The Falcons are headed to the Final Four with a win over Vicksburg in the quarterfinals. Reese Polega led the Falcons 15 points. Alexis Asekomeh had 7 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Emma Tuttle led the team in rebounds with 11 while adding 6 points. Elisha Dykstra and Becca Tuttle added 5 points and 2 points for the Falcons.

This is the 3rd year in a row the Falcons have advanced to the Final Four. The 26-1 Falcons will take on Ann Arbor Father Gabriel Richard in the state semi-final on Friday 3/22 at 7:30pm. The game will be played at the Breslin Center on the campus of Michigan State.

Falcons Win: 48 - 36
West Catholic claimed their 3rd straight regional championship with a win over OK Blue rival Spring Lake. In a hard fought and physical game, the Falcons outscored the Lakers 48-36. West Catholic was led by Alexis Asekomeh who recorded a double double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Also finishing in double digits for the Falcons was Paige Seely-London with 12 points. Reese Polega and Elisha Dykstra finished with 9 and 8 points respectively. Emma Tuttle pulled down 9 rebounds while adding 6 points. Becca Tuttle grabbed 5 rebounds.The 25-1 Falcons advance to the quarterfinals where they will face Vicksburg. The game will be played next Tuesday 3/19 at Harper Creek High School in Battle Creek at 7:00pm.

Falcons Win: 44 - 31
West Catholic clinched a spot in the regional finals with a 44-31 win over Unity Christian. Reese Polega led the Falcons with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds, including going 8-8 at the free throw line in the 4th quarter. Elisha Dykstra added 13 points. Alexis Asekomeh had 8 points and 8 rebounds for the Falcons. Emma Tuttle pulled down 10 rebounds and chipped in 5 points. The 23-1 Falcons play Spring Lake in the regional final on Wednesday 3/13 at Sparta High School at 7:00pm.

Falcons Win: 43 - 36
West Catholic claimed their 5th District Championship in a hard fought game over rivals Catholic Central. The Falcons used balanced scoring to beat the Cougars 43-36. Paige Seely-London led the team in scoring with 12. Reese Polega finished with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Emma Tuttle led the team in rebounds with 13, while adding 5 points. Alexis Asekomeh contributed 6 points and 5 rebounds. Elisha Dykstra chipped in 5 points. Becca Tuttle added 4 points and 5 assists. The game was won on the defensive side of the ball with grit and defensive intensity.The 23-1 Falcons move on to the regional semi-finals against Unity Christian on Monday 3/11 at Sparta High School. Game time is set for 5:30pm.

Falcons Win: 65 - 23
West Catholic started fast and never looked back as the Falcons defeated Grand Rapids Christian 65-23 in the district semi-final. Paige Seely-London led the way with 25 points for the Falcons, including 7 3-pointers. Alexis Asekomeh had 11 points. The 22-1 Falcons advance to the district championship game on Friday 3/8 at 7:00pm. The Falcons will face their rival, Catholic Central, at Forest Hills Eastern High School.

Falcons Win: 49 - 35
It was a hard fought game as West Catholic battled Muskegon High School, a top 10 team in Division 1. The Falcons came out on top 49-35. It's only fitting that the 3 seniors lead the way for the Falcons tonight as we celebrated all of their accomplishments over the past 4 years during our senior night celebration. Reese Polega finished with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Emma Tuttle also grabbed 10 rebounds of her own, while chipping in 6 points. Becca Tuttle scored 8 points and lead the team with 5 assists. Also contributing to the win was Elisha Dykstra with 15 points, Alexis Asekomeh with 6 points, and Paige Seely-London with 3 points. Paige Clinger provided defensive energy. West Catholic finishes the regular season 21-1 (14-0). The Falcons begin district play next Wednesday at Forest Hills Eastern High School. They will play the winner of Grand Rapids Christian vs. Grand Rapids West Michigan Aviation Academy on Wednesday 3/6 at 5:30pm.

Falcons Win: 58 - 39
The Falcons defeated the Broncos of Coopersville High School 58-39 to capture the OK Blue Conference Championship with a 14-0 record. Elisha Dykstra lead the Falcons with 18 points and 7 assists. Reese Polega and Alexis Asekomeh also finished in double digits with 16 and 10 points respectively. Anna Ignatoski chipped in 9 points. Emma Tuttle lead rebounding with 12. Becca Tuttle and Paige Seely-London provided energy off the bench. This is the 5th undefeated conference championship for Coach V and her teams, totaling 70-0. Prior to her arrival 10 seasons ago, in the previous season, the Falcons had failed to win a conference game. Coach V holds an overall 75% winning percentage for the Falcons, her alma mater. Coach V is a 1995 graduate of West Catholic. The 20-1 (14-0) Falcons finish up the regular season at home for senior night on Tuesday 2/27 vs. Muskegon. Tip is set for 7:00pm.

Falcons Win: 45 - 19
West Catholic beat Fruitport 45-19. West Catholic had 4 quarters of defensive pressure as they allowed the Trojans to score only 4 field goals all game. It was a good team win as all Falcons contributed with either points or rebounds. Alexis Asekomeh lead the way for West with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Elisha Dykstra added 10 points. Emma Tuttle pulled down 11 rebounds and scored 7 points. Anna Ignatoski provided defensive energy for the Falcons. Becca Tuttle and Paige Clinger provided energy off the bench.  The 18-1 (12-0) Falcons return to action tomorrow night, 2/21, at home for a make up game against Allendale. Tip is set for 7:00pm.

Falcons Win: 45 - 37
In a game that game down to the wire, the Falcons converted 7 of 10 free throws in the 4th quarter to beat Spring Lake 45-37. Reese Polega and Elisha Dykstra both finished in double digits for the Falcons tonight. Reese finished with 18 points, including going 4-4 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter to help secure the game. Elisha finished 15 points. Emma Tuttle grabbed 15 rebounds, while adding 2 points. Alexis Asekomeh grabbed 6 boards and chipped in 2 points.  The 17-1 (11-0) Falcons are home again on Tuesday 2/20 against Fruitport. Tip set for 7:00pm.

West Catholic beat Allendale in a battle of the Falcons 54-41. West Catholic had 3 players score in double figures to lead the way. Emma Tuttle lead the team with 13 points. Reese Polega and Anna Ignatoski each scored 10 for the Falcons. Reese Polega and Alexis Asekomeh led the team in rebounding with 5 rebounds each. Elisha Dykstra dished out 5 assists.  The 16-1 (10-0) Falcons return home Friday against the Lakers of Spring Lake. Tip is set for 7:30pm.

Falcons Win: 41 - 19
The Falcons defeated Holland Christian 41-19. West's defense set the tone early as the Falcon's held the Maroons scoreless through the first quarter. The Falcon's played unselfishly and shared the ball leading to a balanced scoring attack. Reese Polega led the team with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Becca Tuttle and Paige Seely-London added 9 and 8 points respectively. Emma Tuttle lead the team in rebounding with 10 and added 3 points. Alexis Asekomeh grabbed 8 rebounds and added 5 points. Paige Clinger gave the Falcons a spark off the bench with her defensive tenacity.  The 15-1 (9-0) Falcons travel to Allendale on Tuesday 2/13, tip set for 7:00pm.

Falcons Win: 57 - 37
A tied game at half time, the Falcons used defensive intensity to limit Unity Christian to 12 total second half points en route to a 57-37 victory over the Crusaders. The inside presence of Alexis Asekomeh and Emma Tuttle lead the way for the Falcons. Alexis finished with a team high 22 points and 9 rebounds. Emma Tuttle recorded a double double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Reese Polega also cleaned up the boards with 13 rebounds, while chipping in 6 points. Anna Ignatoski added 18 points for the Falcons.  The 14-1 (8-0) Falcons return home against Holland Christian on Friday 2/9. Game time set for 7:30pm.

The Falcons started strong and never looked back as they defeated the Hawkeyes of Hamilton 57-36. Reese Polega led the Falcons with 21 points. Alexis Asekomeh and Paige Seely-London added 11 and 9 points respectively. Emma Tuttle lead the team in rebounding with 10 and added 5 points. The 13-1 (7-0) Falcons travel to Unity Christian Tuesday 2/6, tip is set for 7:00pm.

Falcons Win: 60 - 20
High intensity and team defense were the keys to success for the Falcons as they beat the Titans of Traverse City West 60-20. It was a team effort as every Falcon dressed for the game saw time tonight and contributed with either points or rebounds. Reese Polega and Becca Tuttle filled the stat line tonight. Reese finished with a team high 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Becca finished with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and a team high 6 assists. Anna Ignatoski matched the team high with 14 points. Alexis Asekomeh added 11 points. Emma Tuttle lead the team in rebounding with 14, while adding 4 points.  The 12-1 (6-0) Falcons start the second round of conference play on Friday 2/2 at home against Hamilton. Game set for 7:30pm.

The Falcons flew high as they beat the Broncos of Coopersville 66-32. It was another balanced scoring attack for the Falcons as 8 players found the scoring column. Alexis Asekomeh and Reese Polega lead the team with 15 and 14 points. Elisha Dykstra added 9 points and lead the team with 5 assists. Emma Tuttle lead the team in rebounds with 10 while adding 8 points. Anna Ignatoski scored 7 points and Becca Tuttle added 5 points. Paige Clinger and Molly Perez each contributed 4 points. The 11-1 (6-0) Falcons face off against Traverse City West on Tuesday 1/30 at home, tip is set for 7:00pm.

Falcons Win: 52 - 19
The Falcons jumped out 19-2 after the first quarter of play against Fruitport and never looked back. West had 3 players score in double digits as the Falcons defeated the Trojans 52-19. Anna Ignatoski led the team with 15 points. Emma Tuttle finished with a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Paige Seely-London came off the bench and added 11 points. Reese Polega added 5 points and 4 rebounds, while Becca Tuttle chipped in 4 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.  The 10-1 (5-0) Falcons return home on Friday 1/26 against Coopersville. Game time set for 7:30pm.

The energy was high as the Falcons took the floor at full strength for the first time this season against the Lakers of Spring Lake. Aggressive defense helped the Falcons attack early and lead the way to a 58-21 win. Anna Ignatoski and Elisha Dykstra both finished with double digits with 16 and 12 points respectively. Reese Polega added 9 points. Becca Tuttle added 8 points off the bench. Alexis Asekomeh scored 7 points. The Falcons take pride in their ability to control the boards, highlighted tonight with all 11 Falcons recording at least 1 rebound. Emma Tuttle lead the rebounding for the Falcons with 12. The 9-1 (4-0) travel to Fruitport on Tuesday 1/23. Game time set for 7:00pm.

In the season's second battle of the Falcons, the West Catholic Falcons topped the Allendale Falcons 46-30. Three Falcons scored in double figures for West. Alexis Asekomeh lead the way with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Elisha Dykstra finished with 11 points and Reese Polega added another 10. Emma Tuttle lead the team in rebounds with 9. Anna Ignatoski, Becca Tuttle and Paige Seely-London provided defensive energy. The 19-1 (13-0) Falcons travel to Coopersville on Friday 2/23. Tip is set for 7:30pm.

Falcons Win: 41 - 33
Defensive pressure and intensity carried the Falcons as they fought to overcome a double digit deficit to defeat the Maroons of Holland Christian 41-33 in overtime. Anna Ignatoski lead the charge for the Falcons in her long awaited season debut after battling knee injuries. She lead the team in scoring with 10 points, arguably none bigger than the layup to send the game into overtime. Elisha Dykstra, Paige Seely-London, and Alexis Asekomeh each added 8 points. Reese Polega chipped in 6 points. Emma Tuttle lead the team in rebounds with 15.  The 8-1 (3-0) Falcons travel to Spring Lake on Friday 1/19 to take on the Lakers. Game time set for 7:30pm.

Falcons Win: 65 - 42
The Falcons traveled to Hamilton tonight to tip off conference play. The Falcons took control of the game early in route to a 65-42 victory. All Falcons able to play saw playing time and contributed to the win. Five Falcons scored in double digits as Paige Seely-London lead the way with 20 points off the bench, including 6 3-pointers. Alexis Asekomeh scored 13 points, Elisha Dykstra and Reese Polega each added 11 points, while Becca Tuttle chipped in 10 points. Emma Tuttle grabbed 13 rebounds and had 4 assists. The 6-1 (1-0) Falcons play Tuesday 1/9 at home against Unity Christian at 7:00pm.

Falcons Win: 60 - 54
In the final game of the Cornerstone Holiday Tournament, the Falcons took on their rival the Cougars of Catholic Central. The Cougars started fast but the Falcons stayed together and lead a valiant comeback to win 60-54. Once again it was a balanced scoring attack for the Falcons, lead by Alexis Asekomeh with 15 points. Reese Polega finished with 14 points and Elisha Dykstra added 10 points. Becca Tuttle and Paige Seely-London chipped in 9 and 8 points a piece.  Emma Tuttle grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 4 assists while playing a key role in limiting touches to Catholic's inside players. Elisha Dykstra and Reese Polega each grabbed 8 rebounds. The 5-1 Falcons head into conference play next Friday at Hamilton. Game time scheduled for 7:30pm. Go West!
Girls Varsity Basketball vs. Rockford High School

Falcons Lose: 57 - 71
The Falcons opened up play in the Cornerstone Holiday Tournament with a 71-57 loss to Rockford, the defending Division I State Champions. It was another balanced scoring attack for the Falcons. Elisha Dykstra and Reese Polega led the Falcons with 13 and 12 points respectively. Paige Seely-London came off the bench and chipped in 9 points with 3 big 3-pointers. Becca Tuttle and Alexis Asekomeh added 8 points a piece, while Emma Tuttle had 7 points of her own. Emma Tuttle and Alexis Asekomeh battled tough on the boards to bring down 7 and 6 rebounds. The 4-1 Falcons wrap up play in the holiday tournament with a game against Catholic Central on Friday 12/29 at 6pm. The game will once again be at Cornerstone University.

Falcons Win: 61 - 33
It was a total team effort tonight as the West Catholic Falcons defeated the Shamrocks of Portland St. Patrick 61-33. This year's 3 captains Becca Tuttle, Emma Tuttle, and Elisha Dykstra set the tone for victory. Senior Becca Tuttle was tenacious on defense creating deflections and steals as senior Emma Tuttle out rebounded everyone with 11 with her physical presence down low. Junior Elisha Dykstra lead all scorers again with 17 points. Reese Polega and Paige Seely-London chipped in 10 and 9 points respectively. The 4-0 Falcons are headed to the annual Christmas tournament at Cornerstone University next week. Their first game is Wednesday December 27 at 7:30pm against Rockford.

Falcons Win: 47 - 36
West Catholic played at home for the first time this season verses a very physical Wayland team. An early lead helped the Falcons set the tone for the rest of the game. Elisha Dykstra and Alexis Asekomeh led scoring with 15 points and 9 points respectively. Reese Polega chipped in 8 points while Emma Tuttle and Becca Tuttle added 6 points each. Emma Tuttle led all rebounders with 12 while Becca Tuttle endured endless traps maintaining composure throughout the 4 quarters. Paige Clinger added a spark off the bench and helped advance the Falcons. The 2-0 Falcons travel to West Ottawa next Thursday for a 7p tip. Go West!
