Falcons Win: 8 - 1
WEST CATHOLIC WINS! Baseball Recap
Last night our Varsity Baseball team started MHSAA District play with visiting Central Montcalm. Needing a victory to advance, West Catholic held off the Hornets winning 8-1.
Junior Pitcher, Kyle O'Hearn started the game on the mound pitching four complete innings and striking out nine batters without giving up a single run.
At the plate, the Falcons were led by Ryer Snow and Trenton Ricord who each chipped in hits of their own as well as plating multiple RBI's.
Tuesday's win keeps the Falcons season alive now at 17-15 and moves them into the District Semi-Final contest this coming Saturday right here at West at 10:00am versus. NorthPointe Christian.

WEST CATHOLIC WINS!
On Thursday night, the Varsity Falcons traveled to Unity Christian for game three of the series as well as the final contest in the regular season. On a five-game conference win streak, the Falcons were looking to make it six and earn back-to-back consecutive sweeps. Doing just that, West Catholic dominated Unity Christian from the start only playing 5 innings and winning 14-0 on the road.
The win clinched a second place tie in the OK-Blue Conference standings, but more importantly gave the team their sixth conference win in a row and a ton of confidence going into the post-season.
Stats wise, the Falcons were led by Kyle O'Hearn on the mound who pitched a complete five innings striking out six batters and nailing down the shutout win. At the plate, the bats were on fire. Kyle Carpenter had two hits and three RBI's, Jack Holt chipped in two hits of his own and plated four RBI's, Ryer Snow had another twi hits and five RBI's, and Nolan Rinehart was perfect at the plate with four hits in as many at bats.
The Falcons are back in action Tuesday, May 30 when they take on Central Montcalm at home in MHSAA District play. Game is set for 4:15pm at The Nest. Go West!

Falcons Win: 7 - 3
WEST CATHOLIC WINS!
On Monday night, West Catholic hosted the final regular season OK-Blue Conference Double Header versus Unity Christian. Winning both games, West Catholic took game one 7-1 and took game two 7-3. Now 15-15 on the season, the Falcons will take on Unity Christian again this coming Thursday for a single game and the final game of the series.
Coming away with some key performances in game one, pitcher Lucky Teerman went the distance pitching all seven innings giving up only three hits and striking out five batters.
Offensively, Ryer Snow started the game with an RBI Single putting the Falcons on the board. Solid base running by Trenton Ricord and Ryer Snow made it 3-0 at the end of the first inning. Extending the lead, Trenton Ricord stayed hot at the dish with an RBI Single of his own making it 4-0 scoring Lucky Teerman. In the third inning, West had three singles to start the inning by Simon Plum, Dylan Pham, and Jack Holt. Two runners scored to make it 6-0 over Unity at the end of three innings. Ending the scoring, Ryer Snow tacked on another RBI with a sacrifice fly.
In game two, Trenton Ricord again continued to perform with an RBI Single in the third inning making it 1-0. Giving up two runs in the top of the fourth, the Falcons quickly tied it right back up as Ryer Snow chipped in another RBI. With runners on, the Falcons took advantage of some Unity Christian passed balls making it 5-2 West Catholic at the end of fourth. Kyle O'Hearn added to the scoring with another RBI Single making it 6-2 thanks to Trenton Ricord's Double to start the inning.
On the mound, Carter Perry pitched nearly seven complete innings striking out eight batters and Ryer Snow recording the last out with a strikeout of his own to close the game at 7-3.

Falcons Win: 10 - 3
WEST CATHOLIC WINS!
On Thursday, the Varsity Falcons headed to Coopersville for the third game of the OK-Blue Conference series up two games to none. Completing the three-game sweep of the Broncos, the Falcons have now won six straight games.
Stats wise, the Falcons were led on the mound by Junior Kyle O'Hearn tossing a complete seven inning game and striking out ten batters. At the plate, Junior Carter Perry was perfect with four hits in as many attempts scoring three runs. In addition, Senior Trenton Ricord added three hits of his own with two doubles.
The boys are back on the diamond tomorrow, Saturday May 20 for two non-league games taking on both Rockford and Grand Rapids Christian at Gainey Athletic Complex. Game one begins at 9:00am versus Rockford with game two to follow.

Falcons Win: 8 - 2
West Catholic Splits Double Header With Allendale
On Wednesday, the Varsity Falcons were back at The Nest for a two-game Double Header with OK-Blue Conference opponent Allendale. Playing the two games after postponing Tuesday, the Falcons jumped out to an early quick lead and never looked back in game one.
An awesome performance on the mound, Junior Kyle O'hearn pitched six innings striking out ten Allendale batters. At the plate, Sophomore David Britenfeld led the team with three hits and plating 2 RBI's. Juniors Noland Rinehart and Ryer Snow also chipped in hits with RBI's at the plate with Sophomore Jack Holt belting his first Home Run over the left field fence.
In game two the Falcons came up short losing 10-7, but the bats came back to life in the fifth inning after a 5-run scoring effort. Senior Caden Ophoff led with two hits of his own.
Game three of the series will be played tonight at Allendale for a 4:15pm start with West Catholic looking to win back-to-back OK-Blue series. Go West!

Falcons Win: 4 - 3
WEST CATHOLIC WINS & TAKES THE SERIES!
On Thursday, West Catholic traveled to Holland Christian for game three of the OK-Blue Conference series against the Maroons tied at one game a piece.
Winning the rubber match with a score of 4-3, the Falcons were led on the mound by Junior Carter Perry tossing a complete seven innings giving up zero earned runs. At the plate, Junior Ryer Snow had two hits to lead the Falcons offensively.
The Falcons are back on the diamond this coming Monday, April 24 for an away non-conference game at Hudsonville. First pitch is slated for 4:15. Go West!

Falcons Win: 12 - 2
WEST CATHOLIC WINS!
In the first Home game of the 2023 season, the Varsity Baseball squad dominated both in the field and at the plate in a OK-Blue Conference contest. Winning by a score of 12-2 in 5 innings over Spring Lake, the Falcons were led by several key contributors.
At the plate, Danny Groszkiewicz, Ryer Snow, Kyle Carpenter, Carter Perry, and David Britenfeld each collected two hits with Britenfeld leading the scoring with four RBI's. In addition, Lucky Teerman hit his first career Home Run to add to the offensive spark the Falcons displayed. On the mound, Carter Perry went the distance only giving up two runs, but striking out seven Lakers.
The Falcons return to the field this coming Tuesday, April 18 with a Home Double Header versus OK-Blue Conference opponent Holland Christian. First game starts at 4:00pm at The Nest. Hope to see you there! Go West!
