Boys Varsity Cross Country vs. Belding, Saranac, and Lakeview

First Race in the Books!
The West Catholic cross country team competed in their first race of the 2020 season with a 2 mile race at Belding. With the news of football, and some of the other sports still on a delay, the team was excited to be one of the first sports to compete and represent the school! The boys side welcomes five new runners to the team including four freshmen. In his senior season captain, Kolbe Mills ran a 10:34 and took 3rd place in the meet! Freshmen Simon Plum took 11th in the meet with a time of 12:31, and Jack VandeGuchte followed right behind him with a time of 12:42 in 13th place! Sophomore Matthew Bowhuis ran a 13:20, beating his personal best at this race last year! In his first season of running cross, Caleb Huizenga came through with a time of 14:32! Following Caleb was Caleb Levanduski with a time of 15:35 and Brandon Petersen with a time of 16:32! The heat was very evident at the meet today, but it didn't affect them much due to the many tempo runs and hill workouts done throughout the summer! The team was ready to hit the ground running and get this season kicked off! Good Job Guys!
