The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team season came to a close Friday night at the Breslin Center in the Division 2 semifinal game against Lansing Catholic. Playing in back to back final four appearances the Falcons were able to jump out to a 17-6 first quarter lead behind 7 points from Cadence Dykstra. West scored only one basket in the second quarter but still led 20-14 at the half. The Falcons held a slim 31-30 lead going into the fourth quarter but Lansing Catholic went 21/25 from the free throw line in the decisive fourth quarter and went on to win 59-41. West was led in scoring by Cadence Dykstra's 13 points. Elisha Dykstra and Reese Polega both added 9 points and Emma Tuttle had 7 rebounds. The 26-1/14-0 (OK Blue) West Catholic Falcons will greatly miss the leadership and play from their three seniors Ellie Bies, Cadence Dykstra and Grace Nyeholt and look forward to the continued play of juniors Becca Tuttle, Emma Tuttle, Reese Polega and sophomores Elisha Dykstra, Anna Ignatoski and Paige Seely-London.
