The West catholic Co-op Varsity hockey team lost to East Grand Rapids Friday night by a final score of 5 to 3. The Falcons came out with a lackluster first period and a half allowing the Pioneers to take advantage as they scored 5 goals. EGR scored first on a power play goal after WC failed to clear the puck multiple times. WC answered with a PP goal of its own minutes later off a great shot by Jake Noordewier as he picked the top corner walking in from the slot. Ashton Bol and Brendan Hofmann assisted on the goal. East scored a late goal in the first to go up 2-1. Teams exchanged goals as East went up 3-1 before Max Goodfellow responded off a pass from Isaiah Clark. EGR scored the next two in the second to go up 5-2. WC finally got going and played well the last half of the game but could only get one goal back for their efforts. Clark scored with Noordewier assisting on the play. The next game is Tuesday Vs FHC at Eagles Ice Center. The Falcons record is now 6-8-1-1 and 3-2 in the conference.
