WC Hockey Splits the Weekend

The varsity hockey team lost their first game to Allen Park, 5-2, of a 2 game road trip in Detroit this weekend. The Falcons got off to a slow start giving up three goals in the first period.  They bounced back getting 2 goals in the second period. However, they were unable to add any more offense in the third period. Benj Bultema scored in the second period with Max Goodfellow assisting on the goal. Brendan Hofmann added a power-play goal with a one timer from the right side. Assisting on the play were Ashton Bol and Jake Noordewier. Noah Herzhaft played well stopping 45 of 49 shots on goal.

 

The hockey team finished the weekend with a win in Detroit as they were able to beat Wyandotte 4-3. They got off to a much better start in the first period, outshooting Wyandotte 22 to 8.  They were led by Benj Bultema with a Hat trick in the first period. Jake Noordewier assisted on Bultema’s first goal, Sam VanSchepen and Ashton Bol assisted on his second, and Max Goodfellow and Brendan Hofmann assisted on Bultema’s power-play goal. Alex McKay scored in the second period off a pretty pass from Brendan Hofmann. Jordan Koetje also assisted on the goal. Wyandotte scored a late goal to bring the game within one with a 6 on 4 with their goalkeeper pulled. The Falcons hung on for the win. Noah Herzhaft had 30 saves in the winning effort. The Falcons will play next at East Kentwood this Tuesday at 3 o’clock.
