The Varsity Hockey team won their first game this year at Munn Ice Arena, beating Dearborn 3-2. The Eagles went down early on a short-handed goal early in the second period on a misplayed puck in their own zone, but responded with the next three goals to take a 3-1 lead. Hayden Zimmerman scored off a pretty pass from Isaiah Clark with Ben Baysore drawing the second assist. Next in the second period Danny Groskiewicz scored a power-play goal off a pretty behind the back pass from Colton Laufer. Sam VanSchepen also assisted on the goal. Clark scored a rebound goal early in the third off a shot from Matthew Ydenberg. Zimmerman added a second assist on the goal. Dearborn scored a late second goal to make it close, but the Eagles were able to seal the deal with not allowing a shot in the last two minutes to get the win. Brayden Melinn played well in net to get the win stopping 14 of 16 shots. The Eagles tallied 42 shots in the game. The next game is this Wednesday at home vs Lowell Cal.
