Varsity Eagles fall to Rockford 2-4

The hockey team lost its opening game of the season last night against the Rockford Rams 4-2. In front of a packed house, the Rams opened up the scoring three minutes into the game.  The Eagles answered with a goal by Isaiah Clark with the assist going to Jake Eaton as the goalie misplayed the puck and Clark was there to capitalize. The Rams scored three times in the second to take a 4 to 1 lead. At the end of the second Colton Laufer scored to cut the lead to two, with assist going to Danny Groskiewicz (West Catholic) and Josh Trendt (Cedar Springs). The Eagles controlled most of the third, but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.  The game ended in a 4-2 final.  Logan Sutliff stopped 11 of 15 shots in the first two periods and Brayden Melinn stopped all five shots he faced in the third period.
