Boys Varsity Track Wins Warrior Invitational

Falcons Lose: -
The snow still covered the bleachers and outlined the track but that didn't stop our WC Boys Track Team from competing at the highest level at the Chippewa Hills Warrior Invite on Saturday.  The boys rallied and came home with the 1st place trophy!  Senior Captain Nathaniel Mitchell braved the chilly start in discus to grab 3rd place.  Mitchell, John-Luc Richmond and Nick Klein added 8 more points in shot put.  Senior Alex King made high jump look easy rising above for his 1st place finish. King continued his dominance in field events with 2nd place in long jump. Junior Jack Schichtel began his day earning 1st place in pole vault.  As the sun began to warm the cold track, our 4x800 relay with Quinton Bauer, Kolbe Mills, Matt Jager, and Malachi Mills brought heat of its own blowing away the competition by over 24 seconds. Sprinters & mid distant athletes Schichtel, King, Bauer, Boston Wilson, and Nick Dorato showed their talents winning the 4x100 and 4x200 relays. Freshman standouts Colin Walch and K. Mills had PR's in the 1600 adding more points. The Mills family came to compete today...Malachi dominated the 400 & 800 with 1st place finishes.  Bauer and Jager completed the 1,2,3 SWEEP in the 800. Schichtel literally won the vault, hopped the fence, jumped in blocks & raced to 3rd place finish in the 300 hurdles.  Casey Rheault finished 4th with Josh Kohane just behind for 6th in the hurdles. Dorato's aching back did not stop him from racing to 2nd place in the 200 M dash. Our 4x400 led off by freshman part time baseballer Josh Corey added a 2nd place finish. Jager, Bauer, and M. Mills rallied to keep Josh's lead. Congrats again to the boys.  Couldn't be more proud!

Falcons Win: 81 - 55
WC Boys Track & Field turned the tables on Catholic Central Wednesday evening defeating the Cougars 81-55. Senior captain Michael Edozie set the pace with a 1st place finish in the 100 M as well as anchoring the winning 4x100 & 4x200 relay teams consisting of sophomore Zane Way & juniors Jack Schichtel and Nick Dorato.  Dorato edged passed the competition snagging 1st in the 200 M dash.  Junior Malachi Mills made the 400 M dash look like a breeze defeating all competitors by over 2 seconds.  Mills along with team mates freshman rookie superstar Quniton Bauer and senior captain Matt Jager pulled off a 1,2, 3 sweep in the 800 M. Part time trackster freshman Josh Corey nabbed an impressive 2nd in the 1600 M followed by fellow freshman Kolbe Mills and Colin Walch.  Sophomore Vinny Ladner as well as senior leader Josh Augdahl and junior Isao Sakai had stellar opening efforts in the 1600 M as well.  Juniors Chase Boshoven and Colin Bacon with sophomore Justin Marble pushed past many Cougars in the grueling 3200 M. It was another 1,2,3 WC sweep in the 110 hurdles with senior "rookie" Alex King leading the way.  Junior Casey Rheault and senior captain Josh Kohane completed the sweep. Schichtel along with Rheault, Kohane and K. Mills added more points in the 300 M hurdles. The winning 4x800 relay team of Bauer, Boshoven, Jager & M. Mills easily handled the Cougar mid distance team. WC throwers did not disappoint with senior captain Nathaniel Mitchell leading the way.  He scored a PR in shot put followed closely by junior John-Luc Richmond, senior Nick Klein, and freshman Cole Vandyke.  Mitchell also pulled off 1st in discus with Richmond and Klein not far behind. King proved worthy of MVP of the evening by grabbing 1st place finishes in the high jump & long jump as well.  Oh, almost forgot to mention, he successfully pole vaulted for the first time.  Alex, where have you been the last 3 years?! Zane Way was close behind King for a 2nd place in long jump.  Junior Sam Edgerly and freshman Lawrence Kado had impressive opening efforts in long jump, 200 M  & 100 M dash. Sophomore Boston Wilson was a strong anchor in both 4x100 & 4x200 relays with Edgerly, Kado, & Vandyke. Junior Jason Wang had strong efforts in the 200 M & 400 M as well as the most exciting event of the evening.  WC 4x400 'A' team had very tired legs & captain Josh Kohane pulled together Wang, Sakai, & Augdahl for a crowd pleasing race.  The pure grit and determination of these boys made us all so proud!  Join us a we travel to Allendale on Tuesday and Coopersville on Thusday.
