That's a wrap of the 2019 cross country season! The boys competed at Regionals in Allendale to run against the best in the region. It was another great day for personal records! Congratulations to Edward Frey for qualifying for state! He ran a 16:44 to medal 7th in the region! Kolbe Mills came back to his usual form  running a 17:39! Vinny Ladner ran his last race with his best time of 17:49! Jonathan Jensen finished fourth on the team, besting his previous time by 36 seconds with a 19:48! That's more than five minutes improvement from his first race of the season! Jacob North and Matt Bouwhuis and also ran great races with Jacob taking 46 seconds off his previous best for a PR of 20:46 and Matt with a PR of 20:59! Then came the JV race where Elisa Fedisoni saw a jaw dropping 1:19 improvement, running a 20:21 to get his personal best, and Joey Nawrocki on a hurt leg still managed to get a PR of 22:28, dropping 43 seconds! Colin Walch and Quinton Bauer resumed running on the team after their soccer seasons finished up, yet they  looked like they were training with the team all year, with Quinton running his fastest in 18:49 and Colin Walch dropping 65 seconds for a 17:49! Colin took fourth place in the JV race earning himself a medal!  What has been so impressive about this season has been the personal records across the board each race. The amount of miles, hills, and track workouts has payed off! It may have felt like torture for the team at times, especially the new runners to get through each practice, but they persevered to have a great season! We want to wish the seniors the best especially Justin Marble who was unable to run at regionals because of an ankle injury! Their dedication to the sport and hard work will be missed and carry over into their future endeavors. This is only the beginning for the younger guys, and if they can be consistent in their training, they have a bright future and can reach the top level of the conference and region! Great job this year guys!

In the final stretch of the cross country season, the guys team raced at Spring Lake at the last conference meet. The rain held off which helped the team to push it to the very end. Edward Frey had himself a day taking 4th overall in the race! He was also named to the All Conference team finishing in the top eleven on a consistent basis this year! Vinny Ladner and Justin Marble  both ran hard, realizing being seniors means to give it your best the last races of the season. Vinny ran an 18:04 and Justin ran a 21:01 which is three seconds away from his personal best! Freshman Matt Bowhuis stuck with Justin with the whole time coming in with a 21:02! Kolbe Mills ran a very impressive 18:42 as he is still recovering from injury. That helped Jonathan Jensen to come up with a personal record today of 20:24! Jacob North had a great kick at the final stretch of the race and ran a 21:38. Joey Nawrocki showed great determination to not slow down at the end as well, running a 23:20. Both Jacob and Joey have done well with strong kicks at the finish, not settling when they were tired! It has been great to watch this team grow and their times from the end of the summer to now have shown that. Good racing today boys! Let's finish strong!

What a day! The boys varsity cross country team ran at the big Portage Invitational today and all these boys showed up to race. Edward Frey ran his best time yet and took home a medal with it running a 16:46 and taking 38th overall! Vinny Ladner came in next with a 17:59 which is his season record! Kolbe Mills who has been coming off injury ran a 20:18 which helped push his teammates Jonathan Jensen and Justin Marble to run their personal bests! Jonathan ran a 20:42 with Justin right behind him with a time of 20:58. Jacob North and Elisha Fedisoni  pushed each other to the end with Jacob running a 21:32 and Elisha running a 21:40. That's more than a minute off their time for both of them! These boys showed grit and determination to finish and surpass their goals despite heavy competition. The fact that all seven varsity runners can do that at one time is really something to celebrate. They will look to keep it going as the season comes to a close with only three more meets left! Proud of you boys!

Noreen D <nduba012@gmail.com> 8:24 PM (0 minutes ago)   to me Over the weekend the boys cross country team ran the Fruitport Invitational. There were a lot fast times and personal records to account for. Elisha Fedisoni, Joey Nawrocki, Jacob North, and Matthew Bouwhuis all ran their personal best times! Vinny Ladner took eighth place while Edward Frey took second place, both of them earning awards after! For many of the newer runners to keep taking off time each race has been a great confidence boost at the midway point of the season. What has helped has been the guys' ability to push each other and help their teammates to move up in the race. They will continue to use that consistency and momentum in a full week of practice at the big Portage Invitational this Saturday!

Some great performances were run at the Coopersville Conference Jamboree #2 tonight. Sophomore Jacob North ran a PR, while Elisha Fedisoni and Justin Marble both had their fastest times of the season. With a well executed race strategy, Senior Edward Frey moved up to 6th place in the boys cross country conference rankings. Although some teammates have been sidelined by injuries, the boys team continues to work hard, and they are looking forward to having all runners back on the course for this Saturday's Fruitport Invitational! Keep dropping those times boys!

It was a hot and muggy day, but the boys cross country team, led by Edward Frey racing to a ninth place finish with a PR of 17:10, had a successful day at the Cougar Falcon Invitational last Saturday. Also racing PR's were Matt Bouwhuis, Jonathan Jensen, and Jacob North! New to the team racers Colin Walch and Quinton Bauer successfully came in under 19 minutes, placing 3rd and 4th on the Falcons roster!  The guys are primed and ready for some fast times again this Wednesday at Coopersville, as they take on the teams of the OK Blue Conference for the second time this season! Good luck boys!

Wednesday was the first OK Blue Jamboree for the boys cross country team at Riverside Park. With the excessive and humidity, it was not ideal running conditions, but the team still pushed it to the very end. Edward Frey ran a 17:36 and took sixth place! This race was a great test of mental and physical ability and really showed the team's commitment no matter the conditions. They have more than a week to prepare for the Cougar Falcon Invitational on September 21st. On to the next meet boys!

The Boys Cross Country team competed in the Coach "B" Invitational on Monday. With only six of the guys competing it was not an easy task going up against bigger schools. However, the guys stepped up with Edward Frey taking first place in the whole race with a time of 17:50! Vinny Ladner came in behind him with a time of 20:29. Sophomore Jonathan Jensen ran a 22:37.45 while freshman Matthew Bouwhuis fought with him to the last sprint of the race with Matt running a 22:37.70! Justin Marble also raced hard with a 23:25. Joey Nawrocki took the sixth spot and ran a 24:01 which is now his personal record! This was a good day of racing to prepare for the first conference meet on Wednesday at Riverside Park. Good job guys!
