Falcons Win: 62 - 37
The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team faced OK Blue Conference rival Spring Lake for the third time this season and completed the season sweep with a 62-37 regional semi final victory at Sparta High School. The Falcons scored early and often in the opening quarter behind Maddie Smith's two 3 pointers to start the game. West Catholic had balanced scoring with Abbey Kimball leading the way with 17 points. Maya Mileski and Crysta Daetwiler were strong on the boards and Mileski added 12 points to go along with Maddie Smith 11 points. Next up for the Falcons is Newaygo, Thursday, in the regional finals at Sparta. Tip is at 7:00pm.  Go West!

Falcons Win: 60 - 48
DISTRICT CHAMPIONS! The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team won their first district championship since 1995 with a 60-48 victory against host Holland Christian at the Holland Civic Center. West led from start to finish behind Abbey Kimball's game high 25 points. The Falcons took a 27-19 lead into halftime and survived several Holland Christian second half runs. Maddie Smith and Olivia Vallone both knocked down key three pointers in the third quarter as the Falcons took a 50-36 lead into the fourth and final quarter. The Falcons were able to secure the victory by knocking down eighth free throws in the final 3 minutes. West Catholic now plays in the Sparta Regional on Tuesday night against OK Blue Conference rival Spring Lake. Go West!
Girls Varsity Basketball vs. OPEN DATE

Falcons Win: 44 - 41
The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team traveled back to the Holland Civic Center Wednesday night for a district semi final matchup with Unity Christian. The Falcons faced an inspired Crusader team that was able to keep the game close throughout the first three quarters and had a four point lead with just under three minutes to play in the game. With West trailing 41-38 with 45 seconds to play, Abbey Kimball hit two free throws to cut the lead to one, 40-41. Unity missed two foul shots in the final 30 seconds and Kimball scored the final four points of her game high 26 points, including two free throws with 4.3 seconds remaining in the game. Unity was able to get off one last shot as time ran out and the Falcons had a thrilling 44-41 victory. Next up will be Holland Christian for the district championship Friday night at 7pm at the Holland Civic Center. Go West!

Falcons Win: 75 - 41
The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team opened district play Monday night at the Holland Civic Center against fellow OK Blue Conference rival Allendale. Playing each other for the second time in ten days, Allendale played a spirited first half throwing a variety of defenses at West Catholic. The Falcons from West found their rhythm in the second quarter behind 15 points from Abbey Kimball and took a 33-21 lead into the half. The Falcons picked up where they left off in the third quarter outscoring Allendale 27-9 with Maddie Smith leading the way with 11 points in the third and as she finished with 13 points. Olivia Vallone had a strong second half scoring 10 of her 12 points in the third quarter. Abbey Kimball finished with a team high 26 points for the 20-1 Falcons. West Catholic travels back to Holland on Wednesday to face Unity Christian. Tip is at 5:00. Go West!

The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team traveled to Coopersville Friday night for their last regular game of the season against the host Broncos. Abbey Kimball led all scorers with 15 points and Maddie Smith added 11 points for the 19-1 (12-0) OK Blue Conference champions. The Falcons open district play on Monday at the Holland Civic Center against Allendale. Tip is at 7:00pm Go West!

Falcons Win: 52 - 35
The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team traveled to second place Comstock Park Tuesday night for a key OK Blue Conference matchup. Both teams traded baskets throughout the first quarter and the Falcons led 15-13 after one. West Catholic turned up the defensive pressure in the second quarter allowing only six points and took a 27-19 lead into the locker room. The Falcons were able to go inside and outside throughout the game and were led by Abbey Kimball's 24 points. Maya Mileski was strong on the boards and had 12 points. Maddie Smith added 11 points for the 18-1 (11-0) first place OK Blue Conference Champions. The Falcons close out the regular season Friday night at Coopersville. Tip 6:00pm. Go West!

The West Catholic girls basketball team celebrated senior night by clinching a share of the OK Blue Conference with a 57-17 victory over visiting Allendale. Senior Grace Misner had a big night scoring 10 points in her final game at West Catholic.  She received support from Abbey Kimball who had a team high 14 points and Maddie Smith added 11 points for the 17-1 (10-0) Falcons. West Catholic will play next at Comstock Park on Tuesday. Go West!

Falcons Win: 70 - 37
The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team returned to action Tuesday night against visiting conference opponent Spring Lake. The Falcons, leading 19-14 halfway through the second quarter, turned up the defensive pressure and closed out the first half on a 18-0 run, and took a 37-14 lead into the locker room. Abbey Kimball led a balanced scoring attack for the Falcons and finished with a game high 19 points. Maddie Smith was hot from behind the arch knocking down five three pointers and had 15 points. Olivia Vallone and Crysta Daetwiler, along with Karlie Kurlenda, were strong on the boards, and added 10 and 9 points for the first place 16-1 (9-0) Falcons. West Catholic has one remaining home game on Friday against Allendale. Tip off is scheduled for 6pm. Go West!

The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team completed a season sweep of Sparta Tuesday night at West defeating the visiting Spartans 71-45. The Falcons scored early and often in their nineteen point first quarter, hitting three of their ten three pointers in the opening quarter. Abbey Kimball had a game high 27 points and Maddie Smith had fifteen points for the league leading 15-1 (8-0) Falcons. West Catholic will return to action next Tuesday at home against Spring Lake. The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team played their cross town rivals Catholic Central Friday night at West and completed the season sweep with their 55-33 victory. Tied 11-11 after the first quarter, the Falcons turned up the defensive pressure and held the Cougars to just six second quarter points. Maddie Smith had the hot hand for the Falcons knocking down five 3 pointers on her way to a team high 20 points. Abbey Kimball added 17 points for the first place Falcons. West now 14-1 (7-0) play Sparta Tuesday night at West Catholic. Go West!

The West Catholic girls basketball team traveled to Covenant Christian Tuesday night and pitched a first quarter shut out as they scored early and often on their way to a 61-23 victory against the host Chargers. All the Falcons scored in the win and were led by Abbey Kimball's 18 points along with 13 points from Maddie Smith. Next up for the 13-1 (6-0) Falcons will be a home OK Blue Conference game against Catholic Central on Friday. Tip off is at 6:00pm. Go West!

Falcons Win: 68 - 35
The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team ended January with a big 68-35 victory over the visiting Coopersville Broncos. The Falcons led from the opening tip as they raced out to a 19-8 first quarter lead. West turned up the defensive pressure in the second half and played great team basketball as they out scored the Broncos 32-18 in the second half. Abbey Kimball led all scorers with 25 points. Maddie Smith had 11 points and Cadence Dykstra added 10 points for the 12-1 (6-0) first place Falcons. West travels to Covenant Christian for a non conference game on Tuesday. Go West!

Falcons Win: 57 - 27
The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team played Comstock Park in their first home game since January 17th and entered the night tied for first place with the visiting Panthers. Both teams had the early scoring touch in the first quarter as West led 18-14 after one. Neither team was able to carry the momentum into the second quarter and West led 24-19 at the half. The Falcons came out in the second half and turned up the defensive pressure and Maddie Smith knocked down two of her four 3 pointers in the third quarter and West held the Panthers to just eight second half points on their way to a 57-27 victory. Smith led all scorers with 15 points and Abbey Kimball added 15 points. Crysta Daetwiler had a strong second half and had 9 points for the 11-1 (5-0) first place Falcons. West Catholic stays at home Friday to take on Coopersville, game time 6:00. Go West!

Falcons Win: 59 - 33
The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team traveled to Allendale Friday night for their fourth consecutive road conference game. The Falcons from West, trailing after the fIrst quarter(12-11) for only the second time this season, erupted for 18 second quarter points and outscored Allendale 18-4 in the second quarter and lead 29-16 at the half. The Falcons continued to apply the defensive pressure throughout the second half eventually winning 59-33 and improved to 10-1 (4-0). Abbey Kimball finished with a game high 16 points and Olivia Vallone added 12 points. West will play at home Tuesday night against Comstock Park following the 5:30 JV game. Go West!

Falcons Win: 49 - 41
The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team returned to conference play Tuesday night on the road at Spring Lake. The Falcons were able to jump out to an early lead and then had to fight of the pesky home team Lakers for four quarters. Abbey Kimball made ten of her twelve free throws in the final four minutes to help keep the Falcons undefeated in conference play. Kimball finished with a game high 28 points and Cadence Dykstra had another strong game on both ends of the floor and added 11 points for the 9-1 (3-0) Falcons. West will once again take to the road on Friday when they travel to Allendale, tip off is at 6pm. Go West!

The girls varsity basketball team traveled to snowy Traverse City west on Saturday and completed a 3-0 week with a 46-35 victory over the host Titans. Abbey Kimball led the Falcons with 11 points. Olivia Vallone added 9 points and Maya Mileski and Cadence Dykstra finished with 8 points each for the 8-1 (2-0) Falcons. West returns to OK Blue action on Tuesday when they travel to Spring Lake. The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team returned home Friday and scored early and often in their 77-16 victory against West Michigan Aviation Academy. All eleven Falcons found their way into the scoring column led by Abbey Kimball's 15 points. Olivia Vallone and Maddie Smith combined for five three pointers, with each contributing 13 points. Crysta Daetwiler and Grace Misner had strong games and each added 9 points for the 7-1 (2-0) Falcons. West Catholic is scheduled to make a road trip north on Saturday to take on Traverse City West at 2:30. Falcons Win: 60 - 44
The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team traveled to Sparta for an OK Blue Conference showdown with the Sparta Spartans on Tuesday night and continued their conference winning streak with a 60-44 victory. Olivia Vallone had the hot early hand, scoring all eight of her points, including two three pointers, in the fourteen point first quarter for the Falcons. The Falcon's aggressive defense led to quick transition offense in the second quarter, as West erupted for twenty-one points, and led 35-16 at the half. Abbey Kimball led all scorers with 24 points and Cadence Dykstra was tough to stop off the dribble and added 11 points for 6-1 (2-0) Falcons. West returns home on Friday for a 4:00pm non conference game against West Michigan Aviation Academy, Go West!

The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team ended a losing away streak to the Catholic Central Cougars on Friday night, as they defeated the Cougars 50-31 at Catholic Central. The Falcons never trailed from the opening tip, and led 27-15 at the half. Despite a valiant Cougar effort, Abbey Kimball. finished with 19 points and Maddie Smith and Maya Mileski each finished with seven points. The Falcons will play at Sparta on Tuesday, January 13th. The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team opened the 2020 new year with an all around strong defensive and rebounding effort against the visiting Lowell Red Arrows. Playing for the first time since December, the Falcons had a twenty-one point third quarter, on their way to their 64-43 victory. Abbey Kimball led all scorers with 31 points, including going 8/8 from the foul line. Olivia Vallone knocked down two 3 pointers and finished with 12 points. The 4-1 Falcons will open OK Blue Conference play on Friday at Catholic Central. Tip off is scheduled for 6 pm. Go West!

Falcons Lose: 44 - 51
The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team traveled to Muskegon Friday night to take on a very good Reeths-Puffer team, that was 4-0 heading into the game. The Falcons competed hard for four quarters and just were not able to overcome the Rockets. Abbey Kimball led the way with 13 points and freshman Cadence Dykstra had her first doubles digit game finishing with 10 points. West is off until 2020 when, the 3-1 Falcons, will take on the Lowell Red Arrows on January 7th at West. Go West!

The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team returned to action Tuesday night against the Muskegon Big Reds. The Falcons had another strong defensive rebounding night and were able to hold the Big Reds to just 13 first half points. Abbey Kimball led all scorers with 23 points, including making 6/6 from the free throw line. Maddie Smith had another strong game and added 11 points for the 3-0 Falcons. West will play Friday at Muskegon Reeths Puffer. Go West!

The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team traveled to Kalamazoo Friday night for their first road game of the young season against Hackett Catholic Prep. Maddie Smith had the hot early hand for the Falcons, scoring eighth of her 19 points in the first quarter. Olivia Vallone was relentless on the boards and matched Smith's 19 points, including 3 three pointers. As a team the Falcons had eleven three pointers, with Maddie Smith leading the way with five. Next up for them 2-0 Falcons, will be the Muskegon Big Reds on Tuesday, at West Catholic. Go West!

Falcons Win: 58 - 38
The West Catholic girls varsity basketball team opened the 2019-2020 season at home in front of a nice west side crowd and they didn't disappoint. The Falcons showed their defensive mentality and scoring ability right from the opening tip off, starting the game on an 18-0 first quarter run in the first four minutes, in which five Falcons scored.  The Falcons were able to maintain their four quarter focus and cruised to a 58-38 victory over the visiting Unity Christian Crusaders. Abbey Kimball led all scorers with 23 points. Olivia Vallone and Crysta Daetwiler each added 10 points for West Catholic. The Falcons will play next Friday (12/13/19) at Kalamazoo Hackett. Go West!
