West Catholic cross country competed for their final conference race at Diamond Springs Golf Course on Wednesday. Lily Lesarge was 11th in the race and hit a (20:27) PR! She earned All Conference honors with her points getting her 7th in the conference! Lainey Roth also ran a PR race (20:32) and was 14th for the day! She fought all season to stay in those top packs and ended up top 20 in the region! Congrats girls! We also had solid races from the varsity. Nathalie Strockis (22:00) 30th place, Paige Clinger (22:35) PR, Katherine Klooster (23:04), Abby Druelle (23:07), Claire Smith (23:34), Liz Richmond (24:38), and Brenna Olewinski (24:11)! The JV team had solid showings too. Audrey Mckeiver led the way for JV (24:15), followed by Maggie Mckeiver (24:31), Ally Olszewski (25:48), Amelia Snelling (25:49) PR, and Nemina Hegemann (29:10) PR! Nice work Varsity and JV!

As our team likes to say “the hay is in the barn.” We have had many weeks of training, growing in the sport and as a team in the process. A lot of us have made significant improvement and ran through some tough conditions and scenarios. We can compete well even with teams with larger rosters than us. We have one more race to do that. That is Regionals at Allendale, October 29th. If everything goes to plan, we should have some individuals qualify for the state meet. But as Coach Duba said to the team, we don’t need to all have A+ plus races. If we just have “very good” or even faster than we normally do, we have a chance of qualifying. It is very much possible with the PR friendly course and the goals we set out for ourselves at the beginning of the season! One more week to zone in for it!
