The West Catholic girls basketball opened OK Blue Conference play with a home game against Hamilton Friday night. The Falcons had a strong defensive effort against a very good Hawkeyes team as they sprinted out to a 18-10 first quarter lead. Abbey Kimball had seven of her team high 19 points in the second quarter as the Falcons took a 35-18 lead into halftime. West continued to push the tempo with its defense in the third quarter and Elisha Dykstra benefited with six of her 11 points coming in transition in the 22-12 third quarter. The Falcons had balanced scoring as Anna Ignatoski, Ellie Bies and Cadence Dykstra each added 8 points in the 69-40 victory. The 6-1 (1-0) Falcons return to the court on Tuesday against Holland Christian. Tip is scheduled for 7:00 pm at West Catholic. Go West!
